Perception....How do other people see you? How do you see yourself? Do you even care?

This can be interesting sometimes especially for those who really "know you." For example, a dear friend of mine said to me recently that my poems remind her of quiltpieces. Quiltpieces? What did she mean?  Puzzled, I zipped my mouth and listened as she expounded on her observation and evaluation of my recent poetry reading:

"It looks like you collect memories and put them into a poem to tell a story the same way quilters put pieces of fabric together to perfect the art of quiltmaking."

I paused for a moment to reflect.

Finally, I said to her, "What a lovely compliment."

Yes...Perception has its place
in our lives.
